FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT 2000

The Freedom of Information Act gives you access to a wide range of information which has been produced and is held by the Council in the Parish Office.

Most of the information is available on this website through various links, however hard copies are also available from the Parish Office. Some information is, at present, only available from the office.
Requests to see any information must be made to the Clerk to the Council in his capacity as the Councils Proper Officer and he may withhold any information if he thinks it is in the public interest to do so. The Parish Council is also obliged to comply with the conditions laid down in the Data Protection Act 1998 in the releasing of certain information.
Documents relating to the normal business of the Council at its monthly meetings such as agendas, minutes, Standing Orders, Working Group and Officers reports, can also be viewed at the Parish Office by arrangement with the Clerk.
Agendas outlining the Councils business to be transacted are displayed on the public notice boards throughout the parish and are available to download via the meetings calender or minutes archive sections of the website.

Council Code of Conduct and Practice & Procedures

Members Declarations of Acceptance of Office and the Register of Members Interests which are a statutory requirement before a Councillor can take office are available for inspection at either the Parish Office or at the Blaby District Council Offices, Narborough, during office hours.
The Minutes of the Parish Council Meetings can be obtained at the Parish Office and are available at each meeting for members of the public. Minutes of previous meetings and the Agenda for the forthcoming meeting are available on this website, see Meetings Calendar and Minutes Archive. Documents relating to Council business, including agendas, reports from Working Groups and Officers and Standing Orders can also be viewed at the Parish Council Office during office hours.

Employment Practice and Procedures

Details of the Parish Councils staffing structure can be obtained from the Clerk to the Council at the Parish Office. Job descriptions and conditions of employment can also be obtained from the Clerk during office hours.

Audit of Accounts and Financial Regulations

The Council as part of its "Quality Council" status must comply with a set of Financial Regulations which it has approved and its Annual Accounts must be audited and be made available to all electors of the parish. The following information is therefore available for inspection at the Parish Office. The Clerk will advise on which items can be photocopied and provided to the public.

Details are also available of the day to day financial transactions which have been approved by the Council for payment including receipts and payments.

The Parish Council is unable to release to the public any information which it thinks is commercially sensitive, such items as quotations for goods and services and tenders for work to be undertaken. The decision on this matter rests with the Clerk to the Council.
